Open Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery

Open Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery is an international, peer reviewed, open access journal that focuses on all aspects of surgery on the cardiovascular system, including surgical techniques and procedures and also diagnosis, imaging, complications, patient suitability and risks, outcomes, reperfusion, relevant pharmacology and general vascular surgeries. The journal is new to SAGE in 2017 and we are seeking a new Editor-in-Chief to lead the journal towards its first milestones, such as gaining an Impact Factor.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized and well-connected individual who shall be responsible for developing and advancing the journal to ensure its future success. The new Editor will receive administrative support from SAGE. The appointment will be for an initial period of 3 years.

The role involves various rewarding responsibilities including:

‌• Leading on the strategic development of the Journal with a particular focus on maintaining and improving quality and impact
‌• Managing the receipt and peer review of scholarly submissions, liaising with authors, and responsibility for the selection and revision of articles
‌• Encouraging the submission of compelling academic research, with attention to early career authors
‌• Commissioning of high quality review articles
‌• Maintaining regular contact with SAGE
‌• Managing and working in close liaison with the editorial board, ensuring board membership reflects the varying interests and disciplines covered by the journal
‌• Representing the Journal as Editor at external events and carry out promotional activity when possible with the support of the SAGE marketing team

SAGE invites expressions of interest by 31st July 2017. Those interested in making an application should send a brief CV, supported by a letter that outlines their experience and ability to perform the role. Expressions should specifically address the applicants’ aims and vision for the Journal over the term of editorship and beyond, and demonstrate the ability to encourage and commission high-quality peer-reviewed content.
