Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Individual differences/risk factors for substance use disorders or addictive behaviors.
  • Developments in treatments or prevention of substance use disorders or addictive behaviors 
  • Psychological/biological individual differences related to etiology or course of substance use disorders or addictive behavior 
  • Issues in classification of substance use disorders or addictive behavior 
  • Measurement of genetic factors /genotypes in relation to substance use disorders or addictive behavior 
  • Emotional, personality, cognitive individual differences in substance use disorders or addictive behavior 
  • Comorbid disorders / dual diagnosis issues
  • Complicating factors related to substance use disorders or addictive behavior (e.g., medical illness, pregnancy, special populations)
  • Co-occurring substance use that might exacerbate symptoms (e.g., concurrent use of nicotine and alcohol, or caffeine and alcohol)
