Overview: 

This Special Collection is focusing on evolution of self-organized structures of cells. In recent years, the tissue engineering research has shifted to include a new and growing subfield of scaffoldless techniques that generate self-organized multicellular structures or tissues. This collection publishes the computational and experimental research work on the impacts of cytokines, exogenous growth factors and the extracellular matrix (ECM) or other micro-environmental factors on the evolution of self-organized structures of cells in vitro or in vivo.
